PLUMP to perform the play "FAULT LINES" in Houston

PLUMP is extremely proud and excited to announce that we will be writing music for the score for the play "FAULT LINES" and will play live at each performance of the play. We are friends with the Horsehead Theatre Company (www.horseheadtheatre.org) and have been asked to participate. Its going to be really cool.

PLUMP will probably play a 30-45 minute set before the play, and then will play the underscore during the play action."Fault Lines" is a play written in 2008 by Stephen Berber. The play takes place in a bar, so Horsehead Theatre Company has seen fit to rent out The Brewery Tap (717 Franklin in downtown Houston, TX).

The play will run for the following 10 nights:THU MAR 11, FRI MAR 12, SAT MAR 13, MON MAR 15, THU MAR 18, FRI MAR 19, SAT MAR 20, THU MAR 25, FRI MAR 26, SAT MAR 27

Advance tickets can be purchased via the horsehead theatre website (www.horseheadtheatre.org) I believe tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door. I saw their production of RED LIGHT WINTER last fall, and it was AWESOME. I think this will be a very cool experience for both the audience and especially for the band!

San Marcos on Feb 19

I think it is roughly 180 miles between San Marcos and Houston, but it really seems longer than that. I think because the last 25 miles between Luling and San Marcos are on HWY 183 and 80, which take you through a bunch of small towns where the spped limit is 35 MPH.

We always like playing at Triplecrown. The light show is nice. I got to play on Spank's drumset, which makes things easier. SPANK is definitely one of our favorite bands, and they are extremely nice guys to boot. We played about an hour set. We hadn't played "Underwatertown"--on of our slower songs--in a while, so we busted it out and it sounded good. However, right before we counted it off, someone in the audience yelled "Play something funky". Underwater town, while interesting, is not the funkiest of numbers. Such is Life. "The Sixer" sounded good--second time played, and it sounded much tighter than 2 weeks ago in Bryan/College Station.

SPANK rocked.

We amused ourselves playing the ring on a thread attached to the ceiling and trying to latch on to hook 10 feet away on the wall game. Great game. Jody and Josh got pretty good. There is one guy there that is clearly a master of the ring and hook game. We could all learn a lot from him.

Revolution Is Nice

We played a barn-burner of a set over at Revolution on Friday night. We did a double-bill with Strawberry Jam, and they did a heck of a job of getting the people out. Its always nice when people are all standing right in front of the stage waiting for us to start. It was a little too cold for outside, so we packed it into the bar area for the evening. We are continuing to enjoy playing the new songs--"The Sixer" was played for the first time ever. We have literally had this song on the back burner for about a year and a half, and this is the first time the song reared its head. I think we did pretty well on it (it's a complex song). We are pumped that the other new songs like "Loose/Tight" and "Guzzle it Down" are being extremely well received--they are funky little numbers. Strawberry Jam had a good show as well--and I really enjoyed hearing them play "Frankenstein" and "Benny and the Jets". At the end of the night, just as the bouncers were screaming for everyone to get the hell out of the bar, the power went out. At first, I thought it was a ploy by the bar to get people the hell out of there (Note to bar owners--this appeared to work, as people cleared out pretty quickly). Alas, my hopes and dreams were shattered as the power was completely knocked-out throughout the neighborhood.

For anyone who has never played in a band, what you all really need to know about taking down the PA and rolling up countless extension cords and microphone cords, and moving increasingly heavy speakers, amplifiers, monitors, etc. etc. is that it is really really really hard to do all of that at 2:30 am in complete darkness. That is, in fact, the dirty underbelly of rock and roll.

Last Saturday (Jan 30) in Lake Charles

Man, Ashes of Babylon has a lot of fans in Lake Charles. We have been wanting to play a show with those guys, and they did not disappoint. Really cool guys. Big band. They will be coming to play with us in Houston in March.

Anyway, we have been excited about playing some of our new tunes. We hadn't played a show in just over a month, which is a long time for us, so we had a ball getting back in the swing of things. We have new songs with such glamourous titles as Loose/Tight, Guzzle it Down, and the Sixer. I am sensing a theme.

setlist included: Via Satellite, Bertha, Turnaround, Loose/Tight, Superfan, Alright, Reggae#2, Buddy Boo, and Guzzle it Down
